Why does anyone wear any color other than black? No color is as simple and classic yet bold and versatile. That’s why it makes for the best base for a minimalist wardrobe.
At the start of the year, Dave and I made the decision to refine our wardrobes, sticking to higher quality, classic, and mostly all-black pieces. We’re hardly minimalists (I mean, have you seen my hoarder-esque collections?). But simplifying our clothing has yielded undeniable results.
1) We get SO many more compliments while we’re out and about. I can’t tell you the number of times someone comments on Dave’s outfit when he’s just wearing a black long tee and black jeans, haha. Evidently, there’s something about all-black that really makes a statement.
2) Black just makes me happier. I used to try to incorporate color into my closet because I felt some social pressure to “change it up”, so I bought lots of fast fashion that rarely saw the light of day. I truly feel most like myself and most comfortable in monochrome.
So all of that to say: I plan on doing more wardrobe posts, however, they’ll be very simple, mostly all-black looks. In the words of Morticia Addams, “Black is such a happy color, darling!”
